About the Recipe

Ingredients

For the hamburgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

  • 1 cup chopped kimchi, drained

  • Lettuce leaves, for serving

  • Sliced red onion, for serving

For the gochujang mayo:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape them into burger patties. Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Step 4

While the patties are cooking, prepare the gochujang mayo by whisking together mayonnaise, gochujang, and lime juice in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 5

Assemble the burgers: Spread a layer of gochujang mayo on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with lettuce leaves, a grilled beef patty, chopped kimchi, and sliced red onion. Add the top half of the bun and serve immediately. Enjoy your Kimchi Hamburger!
